THE WEBSITE IS UP AND RUNNING!!!

Well finally.... I have www.howtomakecupcakes.com up and running. I have searched the internet for some great links to: online recipes, recipe books that you can purchase, suppliers, photo's with links to the creator so that you can see more of thier masterpieces and contact them personally. Also there is an Accessories link where you can find a tone of stuff to make your creations look great. The links that I setup take you directly to that product, but these vendors/online stores have so many more products to choose from. Feel free to roam around in thier stores to find more. Please check out the website. www.howtomakecupcakes.com. Also my email is on the site as well. Feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you think. If you are looking for something special and don't see it, let me know and I will try and find it for you and provide you with the link. If you want to share your photos, recipes, advertising or comments please email me and I would glady look at your attachments and place them on the site.
This weekend I made 2 cakes. One Lego Cake & a Tim Horton's Coffee Cup Cake. I will post the photo's here in the next day or two. So please check back to see my new creations.
The Lego cake, I found on a family fun website that is listed on my website www.howtomakecupcakes.com under recipes. This is a Walt Disney site and they have so many ideas. You can print off all the recipes and use them free of charge. This website not only has recipes but has crafts and other fun things for the family. Hence the name!
Well please enjoy my website!! ~Sara

It's About the Green....

With my older son in Junior Kindergarden he has learned about St. Patrick's Day. Nate says... "you must wear green on that day"! So I asked him about making some green cupcakes for St. Patrick's day. He was surprised that we could do that. And in all I was excited for two reasons... 1. It is March Break and I need some ideas to keep him entertained & 2. .... I get to make CUPCAKES!!! I love decorating them and watching the boys use thier noggins and get creative. If you have any idea's as to how to decorate them besides just "green icing" please let me know. I will post a picture of the cupcakes once they are made.

Also, If you have any fun idea's to keep my 4 year old active and entertained this week, please share them with me.

One thing that I did find for him, which ties into this blog, is a computer game. "Strawberry Shortcake's cookie party". I got it at Costco for $3 cdn. I know that you are thinking "that's a girly theme"! But it is so much fun. Nate & I sat down for about 2 hours today and played the game. I thought that it was great interaction between parent & child. It was fun working together solving problems, racing down a chocolate river, decorating cake houses and you even get you make cookies. The CD also comes with some cookie recipes. In keeping with the cupcake theme, I would give this game 12 out 12 cupcakes! I may even sneak a game of it on my own once the boys have gone to bed.... shhhh.... our secret! ~Sara

A Sweet Weekend!

Well I am back! I was really sick last week and no energy to blog. This weekend was my sister's 35th birthday so I made my very first "3D" birthday cake. Click on the picture to see the full effect. I made it by cutting all the pieces out. No mold cake pan here. I even filled it with cherry filling. I was very happy with how it turned out... well except for the writing. I am gonna work on that! It was time consuming but loads of fun and it made me feel really good about myself.

So after making the cake, my four year said "moma, can I have a piece"? I said no sweetie this is for auntie's birthday party, which he was not going to. I felt bad so I got an idea...! I made cupcakes and put cherry filling in them! This way he could have his own and I don't need to worry about him eating a whole cake. They are really good! It is a nice surprise for the personal enjoying them. My son wanted to decorate them with blue icing with blacks spots. So we did, and they look so neat! The best part about the blue and black icing is that I know when he is sneaking a cupcake or walking by them and sticking his fingers in them. He actually did it quite a bit that I needed to put them up. The mircowave works best for storing the cupcakes. This way no plastic wrap messes up your decorating and the icing goes a little hard, which I like.

Have a great day!
